Serum status of selected biochemical parameters in malaria: An animal model
ثبت نشده
چکیده
Studies on the effect of malaria on serum lipid profile, total proteins alkaline phosphatase, certain micronutrients and some organs of the body were carried out using mice as experimental animal. Serum total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, triglyceride, total protein, alkaline phosphatase, manganese, zinc and copper were assessed in both control and test subjects. Significant decrease (P<0.05) was observed for serum total proteins in malaria infected mice when compared with control. Although, increased concentrations were observed for total cholesterol, HDL-C, triglyceride, LDLC, alkaline phosphatase and zinc, however, the levels are not significant (P>0.05). Reduced concentrations were observed for manganese and copper, though not significant (P>0.05). Our observations support the hypothesis that malaria infections affect serum biochemical profiles.

Objective(s): The aim of the present study was to assess the effects of vitamin C (Vit C) on hemolytic anemia induced by phenylhydrazine (PHZ). Materials and Methods: Twenty-four healthy male mice were divided into four groups, randomly: Control group (0.1 ml/day, normal slaine, IP), PHZ group that received only PHZ 8 mg/100 g/48 hr, IP, PHZ+Vit C group that received PHZ 8 mg/100 g/48 hr, IP an...

متن کاملEffect of substituting increasing levels of organic Zn for inorganic Zn on performance, hematological and serum biochemical constituents, antioxidant status and immune response in rat
The effect of replacing dietary Zn supplemented from inorganic (ZnCO3) source with organic Zn (Zn methionine; Zn-met) was investigated in 72 rats (98.42 ± 1.483 g) by randomly allotting to 4 diets (6 replicates/diet, 3 rats/replicate). Basal diet was prepared with purified ingredients without Zn. The control diet (AIN-76A) contained 12 ppm of Zn from ZnCO3 (100-I). In the other diets ZnCO3 was ...
